Where To Get Free Sandbags In San Diego County Ahead Of This Week's Storm

Officials want San Diego County residents to be prepared as potentially heavy rains and some snow head toward the region this week.

A strong Pacific storm system is bringing two rounds of rain — first on Wednesday morning and then on Thursday afternoon — according to NBC 7 meteorologist Greg Bledsoe. Some parts of the county are expected to get more than an inch of rain, prompting a flood watch for the coast, valleys and mountains starting Thursday afternoon.

"This will likely be the most significant rain we've had yet this season," Bledsoe said.

Ahead of the storm, the county and Cal Fire are providing free sandbags at various fire stations for residents and businesses in unincorporated areas. Here's where:

Some stations may have a limited supply, so it's best to call ahead and double-check availability. Don't forget to bring a shovel for fillings bags.
