San Diego County residents have one week remaining to pay the second installment of their property taxes before they are considered delinquent and result in more charges, the treasurer-tax collector said Thursday.
“If you haven’t yet paid your property taxes, you have a week to do so to avoid penalties,” Dan McAllister said in a news release.
He added that to avoid the 10% penalty, along with a $10 fee, his office encouraged property owners to go online and pay their second installment before the April 10 deadline.
According to the county, property tax payments are expected to generate $9.1 billion dollars, described as “a new record.”
The county stated that more than a million — to be precise, 1,018,103 — secured tax bills are available at www.sdttc.com for viewing and payment.
Residents may pay online for free using an e-check. Those using the online payment system will receive an immediate emailed receipt for payment confirmation, according to the county.
The first property tax installment was due Nov. 1, 2024, with the second installment due Feb. 1, then falling into delinquency after April 10, county officials said.
Property owners can locate their tax bill online or call the Treasurer- Tax Collector’s Office at 877-829-4732.
